VILLA NO. 1  |  BENTOTA

Two individual units were designed to incorporate the spectacular views of the sea on one end and the river on the other. The buildings individually are minimal and symmetrical screened by large timber doors which completely open out to induce the feel of an open pavilion along the river.

They sit sculpturally on the site as white cubes against the lawn with only coconut trees and frangipani, the sea and the river. Cantilevered staircases lead to the private terraces above. The 75"-0" long lap pool is composed of dark hued tiles to reflect the colours of the trees and the river. The buildings frame views to the sea from inside and the river from the entrance.

Location: Bentota, Sri Lanka

Status: Completed in September 2008
